Use this guide to move through the calculator, enter your scores, use voice assistance, and understand your result.
1. Start Here
Choose UTME or DE from the System selector.
Enter the required scores for the selected system.
Press Calculate Aggregate.
Review the result, eligibility status, and calculation breakdown.
2. UTME Calculation
Select UTME, then enter your UTME score from 160 to 400 and Post-UTME score from 1 to 100.
The Score button lets you enter your Post-UTME score for the UTME calculation.
The PDS button switches to Pre-degree Score entry and the PDS calculation.
The calculator uses: UTME contribution = score divided by 400 times 60; Post-UTME contribution = score divided by 100 times 40.
The two contributions are added to produce the aggregate percentage.
3. Direct Entry Calculation
Select DE. The calculator clears the previous system state automatically.
Choose a qualification: JUPEB/IJMB/A'Level, OND/HND/NCE, BSc/1st Degree, or Diploma A'level.
Select the matching points, grade, or degree classification.
Enter the DE Post-UTME score and calculate.
For JUPEB/IJMB/A'Level, use the Score tab for points or the Grade tab for an equivalent classification. The qualification value is the primary DE score used by the calculation.
4. Switching Systems
Changing between UTME and DE resets inputs, results, chart history, selected tabs, and open modals.
Choose the new system from the System selector, then enter only the fields shown for that system.
Switching systems does not carry previous scores into the new calculation, helping prevent UTME and DE values from being mixed.
Review the active system before calculating so the displayed formula and required inputs match your admission route.
5. Guide Navigation
Use the Guide contents dropdown at the top of the modal to jump directly to any topic without scrolling manually.
Choose Performance Trend, Choose a Theme Color, or any other entry to bring that section into view.
The selected section scrolls smoothly and receives a short highlight so you can see where you landed.
After reading a section, open the dropdown again to move to another topic. The selector resets after each jump.
This guide is designed to help you move through the calculator in small, logical steps instead of reading the whole page at once.
6. Voice Assistance
Press the microphone button in the Settings bar, allow browser microphone access, speak clearly, and wait for the confirmation message.
For a guided experience, use the mic trigger beside Guide & Mechanics to keep voice commands focused on the manual only.
Guide mic trigger: Use the gear icon beside Guide & Mechanics to start the guide-only mic. It opens the modal and listens only inside this guide. The calculator and Quick Links mics stay independent.
* Voice recognition depends on browser support and microphone permission.
Common commands:
250 and 65UTME 250Post UTME 65For DEFor JAMBCalculateResetOpen breakdown
7. Quick Links
Click the OOU logo at the top to open Quick Links. Select Screening Pass, Screening Result, Admission Status, Screening Portal, Screening Mock, Screening Schedule, Study Material, or Aspirant Group.
The logo inside the Quick Links modal is the modal microphone. Activate it to use voice only for Quick Links commands, such as Screening Pass, Aspirant Group, or Close.
8. Results and Breakdown
The dashboard shows Overall Aggregate, Status, and Minimum Required. After calculation, use View Breakdown to inspect each component and its formula.
In UTME results, Check Admission Chances lets you select a course and view an estimated competitiveness result. These estimates do not guarantee admission.
Performance Trend
After a valid calculation, the Performance Trend chart appears below the result breakdown.
Each point represents a calculation in the current session, so the line helps you compare changes as you adjust your scores.
Growth is calculated from the first and second entries in the current calculation: ((First Entry - Second Entry) x 10) / Total Aggregate.
Spread is the range of the first and second entries in the current calculation: Maximum Value - Minimum Value.
Changing between UTME and DE, using Reset All, or starting a fresh page clears the trend history. The chart is for personal comparison and does not predict admission.
9. Controls and Troubleshooting
Reset: clears the complete calculator state.
Theme: use the sun/moon button; the theme changes only when you use this control.
Sound: use the speaker button to enable or mute interface sounds.
Music: use the music note button to play or stop the background music. The music is embedded in the application and does not require external downloads.
Voice unavailable: grant microphone permission and try again, or type the command when this browser does not support speech recognition.
No result: confirm every required field is filled and within its displayed range.
10. Footer Pad and Theme Colors
The footer pad is the rounded Designed by A Biochemist banner at the bottom of the calculator.
The blue and green dots are part of its visual status design.
Click the footer pad: opens the theme color palette. Hover over a color to see its name, then click a color to apply it.
The selected accent color updates primary calculator actions, active tabs, blue highlights, borders, focus states, and related result accents.
The footer pad is a color control, not a navigation link, and it does not open a new page.
Using Reset, or switching between UTME and DE, restores the default blue accent color.
The footer pad is hidden when printing; it is an interactive screen-only control.
Theme controls explanation:
The footer pad features two distinct control mechanisms for customizing your experience:
Footer pad color palette: Clicking the footer pad opens a palette of accent colors including blue, green, amber, rose, violet, cyan, emerald, and more. Hover over each color to see its name, then click to apply it.
The selected color updates all accent elements throughout the calculator, providing visual consistency across inputs, buttons, borders, and results.
Dark mode toggle: Access dark mode through the sun/moon button in the settings bar or use Ctrl + Shift + D as a keyboard shortcut.
Dark mode inverts the color scheme for comfortable viewing in low-light environments, while maintaining the selected accent color from the footer pad.
Both controls are independent—you can select any accent color in either light or dark mode.
Your theme and accent color choices are remembered across sessions.
Choose a Theme Color
Click the Designed by A Biochemist footer pad to open the theme color palette.
Use the color swatches to preview their names, then click any swatch to apply that accent color immediately.
The active color updates calculator buttons, active tabs, borders, focus outlines, highlights, and related result accents.
Use the randomize control in the palette to cycle through colors. The highlighted outline follows each color during the animation and remains on the final selection when it stops.
Accent color selection is separate from the sun/moon control, so you can use the same chosen accent in either light or dark mode.

12. O'Level Verification Status
The O-Level Status button beside Share Calculator opens a separate O'Level Verification Status application.
It checks whether the entered results contain credit passes in both English Language and Mathematics, and reports the grades, credit total, sitting details, and qualification status.
The O'Level page is arranged from top to bottom: header controls, candidate information, subject-combination tools, subject entry, subject list, optional second sitting, Check Status, and the verification result. Scroll naturally as each section becomes available.
Its header includes an OOU logo, sound, theme color, reset, and Return to Calculator controls. Double-click the logo to cycle theme colors, hold it for about one second to toggle dark mode, or focus it and press Enter for its keyboard action.
Sound: toggles interface click sounds and remembers the setting.
Theme color: opens accent-color swatches for the header, buttons, badges, and borders.
Reset: clears candidate data, exam details, subjects, second-sitting data, results, and the verification ID, then restores the default light theme.
Return to Calculator: goes back to this aggregate calculator.
14. Candidate Information and Exam Number
Choose an Exam Body: WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE. The selected body controls the exam-number format and, for NABTEB, the available grade list. Enter exactly four numeric digits for the exam year, from 1952 through 2050, then choose Internal or External.
* The subjects counter shows how many subjects are entered for that sitting.
The exam-number field appears after an exam body is selected and hides after a valid value is entered. Changing the body clears the old number so it cannot be reused incorrectly.
Exam body
Required format
WAEC
Exactly 10 digits
NECO
Exactly 10 characters using uppercase letters and digits, commonly 8 digits followed by 2 uppercase letters
NABTEB
Exactly 8 digits
GCE
No exam-number format is enforced
15. Subject Presets and Subject Entry
Open Subject Combo to load a preset for Science, Arts, or Commercial subjects. A preset replaces the subjects in that sitting and does not append duplicates. Use Clear All to remove every subject from the current sitting.
Open the Subject Name list.
Select a subject and select its grade.
Click Add, then repeat as needed.
Up to 9 subjects can be entered per sitting, and a subject cannot be added twice to the same sitting. Common aliases such as ENG, MTH, BIO, CHEM, PHY, GOVT, CRK, IRS, and ACC are recognized.
A grades, B grades, and C grades are credits. Specifically, A1, A2, A3, B2, B3, C4, C5, and C6 count as credit passes. D7, E8, F9, P7, P8, ABS, and CANCELLED do not satisfy the credit requirement.
Click a subject name to change the subject.
Click a grade badge to change the grade.
Press Escape to cancel an inline edit.
Use the trash icon to remove a subject.
17. Second Sitting
Use Add Second Sitting when results are split across two examinations. The second sitting has its own exam body, year, type, exam number, subject list, subject presets, and subject counter. Subjects from both sittings are combined for the English Language, Mathematics, and total-credit checks.
Click Remove Sitting to delete the second sitting and all its information. On small screens this control may display as a trash icon.
18. Check Status and Understand the Result
Before clicking Check Status, add subjects, assign a grade to every subject, select the exam body, enter a valid complete year, choose the exam type, and complete any displayed second-sitting information. The application shows a short verification animation before displaying the result. Ctrl + Enter performs the same action.
The result includes the overall status, English Language grade and credit status, Mathematics grade and credit status, total credits, total subjects, candidate information, subject grades and remarks, and first- and second-sitting sections when applicable.
* QUALIFIED: both English Language and Mathematics are credit passes.
* NOT QUALIFIED: either subject is missing or is not a credit pass.
The main result does not display the exam number; it remains available in the copied summary.
19. Result Examples
Example 1: UTME System
A candidate enters:
UTME Score: 250
Post-UTME Score: 65
System: UTME
The calculator computes the aggregate using the official formula and displays the overall percentage and classification status. To open the calculator directly in Direct Entry mode, use ?system=DE after the calculator URL.
If the aggregate meets the minimum required score, the Status shows as eligible; otherwise, it shows as not eligible.
Example 2: Direct Entry (DE) System with JUPEB Qualification
A candidate enters:
Qualification Type: JUPEB / IJMB / A'Level
Qualification Points: Selected from the available grades (e.g., 14 JUPEB Point)
Post-UTME Score: 68
System: DE
The calculator converts the A'Level qualification to its point value and combines it with the Post-UTME score to generate the aggregate.
The result displays the DE aggregate, status, and any relevant remarks.
Interpreting Your Result:
The Overall Aggregate shows your final calculated score as a percentage.
The Status card indicates whether you are eligible or not eligible based on the minimum required score for your selected institution.
The Breakdown button (when available) displays the detailed calculation showing how each component contributed to your final aggregate.
Note: This calculator provides an estimate for self-assessment purposes only and is not an official admission decision tool.
Final admission decisions are made by the institution based on their official screening criteria.
20. Share Link and Copy Summary
After a result appears, Share Link copies the public application address: https://oouaggcalculator-olevel.edgeone.dev/. It does not create a deep link with a ?ref= parameter, and the candidate's verification data is not transferred through the public URL. Clipboard fallback is used when the Clipboard API is unavailable.
After opening the share area, Copy Summary copies plain text containing the verification status, exam body, year, type, exam number, number of sittings, credits, subjects and grades, final status, and Verification ID.
It can be pasted into WhatsApp, Telegram, email, notes, or another messaging app. The Verification ID is an application reference, not an official examination-board certificate number.
21. Print or Save as PDF
Click Print Result, choose a printer or Save as PDF, enable background graphics if offered, check the preview, and confirm. Form and sharing controls are hidden from print output.
The result includes a VERIFIED watermark; a not-qualified result uses a red print-only watermark. The public share URL and deep-link reference are not included in the PDF.
22. Keyboard Shortcuts
Shortcut

23. Accessibility Features
The O'Level Verification Status application is designed to be accessible and usable by all candidates.
The following features support different interaction styles and accessibility needs:
* Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements including buttons, links, form fields, and modals are fully accessible via keyboard.
Tab through elements, use arrow keys in dropdowns, and press Enter or Space to activate buttons.
* Focus management: Visual focus indicators clearly highlight the current interactive element.
Focus order follows a logical reading sequence through the page.
* Enter and Space support: Interactive buttons and controls respond to both Enter and Space key presses for consistent keyboard activation.
* Screen reader support: Semantic HTML, proper heading structure, descriptive labels, and ARIA attributes enable screen reader compatibility.
Form inputs are properly associated with their labels.
* Reduced-motion support: The application respects the prefers-reduced-motion system setting and minimizes animations for users sensitive to motion.
Core functionality is preserved without animation.
* Color contrast: Text, buttons, and controls maintain sufficient color contrast for readability in both light and dark modes.
* Responsive layout: The interface adapts to all screen sizes and orientations, ensuring usability on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
* Undo and error handling: The Reset button provides an easy way to clear all data and start over.
Input validation provides clear feedback without blocking form submission.
24. Common Problems and Limitations
Check Status disabled: add at least one subject and give every subject a grade.
Exam number remains visible: the value does not match the selected body's format.
Number disappeared after changing body: this is expected; enter a new number.
Not Qualified: inspect the English Language and Mathematics cards for a missing or non-credit grade.
Second sitting missing: make sure it is visible and its subjects are entered.
Copy fails: allow clipboard permission, use HTTPS, or retry the action.
Print colors missing: enable Background graphics or Background images in print settings.
This is a browser-based eligibility checker, not an official WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, GCE, or university verification service. It does not submit results, retrieve examination-board records, or validate certificates against an official database.
The public Share Link opens the application only, and admission decisions remain subject to the relevant institution or examination body.
